Recent Great Lakes Lacquer Purchases

Happy Friday everyone! I’m in full chill mode at the moment, I’m listening to a little Bob Marley, I’ve finished my deadlines at work and now I’m just watching the clock waiting for 5 p.m. Since I didn’t take a lunch break today, I thought I’d get this post up!

Today I have some awesome recent purchases I’ve made from Great Lakes Lacquers and since two of them are limited editions, I thought I would get this post up right quick so you don’t miss your chance to get them. The third I’m sharing today isn’t available anymore, I’m sorry for that, but Great Lakes Lacquers has a bounty of awesome polishes coming next month (you’ll see some here soon enough), that I know you’ll love.

To start with I’ll show the one polish that is no longer available. This is Great Lakes Lacquer Lavish Orange and it was a special Black Friday polish made with Jenny from Lavish Layerings in mind (one of my all-time favorite bloggers). It’s a gorgeous brick red leaning orange holo polish packed with subtle, mostly matching multichrome flakies. This polish has an abundance of depth to it and now it that I’m looking at it is also leans a bit brown on me, it’s a perfect fall shade. I know it’s not fall, but that is totally my favorite season for polish. Love me some vampy colored holos. The formula on this was a bit thick and didn’t self level very well, but a thick quick dry top coat fixed that up right quick.

Note: Mariah worked her butt off earlier this year to improve her polish formulas and actually delayed a collection release when she realized that she needed to perfect her formula methods. Her formulas since this have been beyond stellar and her creativity keeps blossoming, as you will see in these next two polishes.

First up we have one of the June limited edition polishes. Usually each month Mariah releases a few special monthly polishes. This beauty is Great Lakes Lacquer Taste the Serenity. This is an amazing periwinkle polish that has a light scattering of linear holo pigment and the most beautiful golden/pinkish glow. I wish I could have captured the glow better, but it’s even more apparent in person. The formula was great on this one, opaque in two easy coats.

The holo in this one is very delicate, but it’s like a super bonus since the shimmer is great as well! Definitely glad I got this polish, it’s gorgeous.

Next up is Great Lakes Lacquer Holo-Maniacs Group Custom #3. This amazing polish is a custom for the Holo-Maniacs Facebook group. If you’re a fan of holos, come join the party, we’re all a pretty fun bunch! This polish is a beautiful classic cherry red linear holo polish with awesome holo flakies that just bring that depth and wow when it sparkles in the sun! This polish was practically a one-coater and I added a second just for good measure. Formula was great too.

And because I couldn’t leave well enough alone, I had to add some nail stamping. I know black and white usually look pretty stunning with red, so I did a gradient stamping job using and image from the UberChic Beauty 1-01 plate! I like how this all turned out, it’s pretty simple but a nice look nonetheless.

So in conclusion, if you haven’t tried Great Lakes Lacquer I suggest you do. I know I’m a swatcher for her occasionally, but I spend my own money on her polishes too (I’ve just placed another order for this awesome green stunner which was a custom for Savvy of Addicted to Polish).
