I have an addiction, it's nail polish.

I'll start this post out with admitting I have a problem. I'm addicted to nail polish. But it makes me happy and I should always pursue something that makes me happy right?

Anyway I've totally neglected this blog so I'll post my manicures from the past several months, if I can recall the color I'll also give those details as well!

What else is new? Well work is absolutely bananas because it is election season. Candidate interviews, candidate forums and endorsements and editorial boards .... oh my! Several contested elections in town plus the never ending drama regarding the school I shall not name for fear my blog will pop up it too many searches.

The continuing legal saga, involving said school, will not end either. And I am only finding out, on a weekly basis, more fuel to increase the firestorm that is this drama pit. Blah.

My personal life? Well I'm back on my official PKU diet, but I can't get my doctor/genetic counselor/nutritionist to reply to my emails and get my blood checked, so I really don't know how much on diet I am. It's aggravating and my desire to be on diet right now is low because it seems like my doctors could pretty much care less, which ticks me off. What if I was on the baby track? Which, to be clear, I'm not yet. But all this is setting the whole process of getting on diet back. I can't even order low-protein food because I need a letter from my doctor, who is not responding to me. Grrr. But no matter how low my motivation is to stay on diet, I continue to soldier on.

I get to visit my bestie Lauren this weekend with her cousin Marie, so that will be super fun.

Hockey is in a lockout, so Mike and I are devoting our time currently to the 49ers, for which we are newish fans. Football isn't the best substitute, but I'm ticked off the owners and the players can't get it together, they obviously care so little about the fans. I love hockey so much, but I am really upset that means nothing to the players or the owners. It's all about money.

Anyway, on to lighter things. Enjoy the photos!

This is the new watch I got last weekend. It's a Fossil watch. Love it!

This is from China Glaze's Fall Bohemian Collection - this is Swanky Silk. Loved this whole collection, got the whole thing!

This OPI Just Spotted the Lizard.

This is a red-orange. OPI Animal-istic.

A grey purple that I absolutely love. Zoya Caitlin.

Black nail polish under ORLY Mermaid Tale.

I thought this color was going to be more chartreuse not yellow. And it was scented, which I did not know before purchasing. Never. Again. It is Color Club Get Your Lemon.

Also over the summer I dabbled in gels, I like them because they last about a week without chips or pealing, but you have to have patience when applying. Really good for trips though.

More gel with a little art I got for my birthday.

More gel with glitter, I liked this one. I call it Starry Night.

This was an experiment trying to encase regular nail polish between the base and top gel coats. It didn't work out all that great. This is OPI Gouda Gouda Two Shoes.

This is OPI Jade is the new Black, which I love, with a China Glaze Luxe and Lush (from the Hunger Games collection) over it. Luxe and Lush also looks really great with a purple base.

This is the new nail polish shelf I got to stay organized, it is now completely full, because I am ridiculously addicted.

Pedicure I got in San Luis Obispo. Zoya Rica.

Sinful Colors Savage (which actually came out matte, randomly) with Essie As Gold as it Gets on the tips. I really liked this combination!

And that is it for now my friends. Thanks for reading and hope I've momentarily entertained you.

Dreams

So I have a cold, an in my sick-induced dreams last night I had some wack-a-doodle dreams.

The first dream I gave birth to a baby boy. My Mom was with me in the hospital room (I don't know where Mike was) and I was asking her what happened. I had no recollection of the birth and was crying as I realized that I had made a child. I named him Cooper Brady Hatling. Which is weird, because my name for a boy is actually Conner Michael Hatling. Really weird and crazy dream because it felt SO REAL.

Then my second dream was about purchasing a house. And my dad was able to find a house that we could raise a family and stay in the Bay Area. This is my dream, but I know considering our household's combined salary, this is but a pipe dream. My dad found a wonderful house with a huge front and back yard (in Mountain View of all places) and he said we could afford it. Such a dream. Then there were some weird things happening at the house, a crazy man in the backyard setting trees on fire and sending a snake after me. A snake I eventually caught with my hand as I struggled with this crazy man trying to ruin my new house.

Then I woke up.

Strange, crazy dreams.

Manicure and memories

This is my manicure of the moment. Essie's Go Overboard with a top coat of Out The Door's Northern Lights (a light, subtle sparkle).

This weekend was full of fond memories shared in honor of my Grandpa Gordon's passing. Mourning is an interesting thing, I believe this may be the first time the mourning has been so difficult. Bouts of sadness just come at totally unexpected times and it is a lot harder to enjoy things while trying to come to grips with the loss. Anyway I will forever admire my Grandpa as it was his illustrious life and career that have always made such and impression on me and kept me striving to achieve more in my life. One thing Gordon did was live his life to the fullest, right down to his last day. He never stopped learning and definitely instilled that in me. Thank you for sharing your life and love with me Grandpa Gordon, I will forever miss you.

Also this weekend I went to the Sharks game with my mom and brother and that was very fun because my mom had not seen the Sharks at the Tank before, and they won in an overtime shootout – so that was really fun for her to see.

Unfortunately I did not get to see Cathy and Chris (Mike's sister and bro-in-law) this weekend as originally planned, which is sad because I really miss them. Thankfully they were very understanding about having to cancel the weekend and I look forward to seeing them (and Cathy's preggo belly) in April!

Nails!!!!

So for the first few months this year I have been trying to take photos of my more interesting manicures and sharing them on Facebook. Someone said I should start a blog about it, and well since I already have a blog, which I ignore way too much, I thought I would start posting my manicures more regularly here. So here is the lot of photos I have taken so far. I need to get better at my photographs of nails. I need to be doing it in more natural light, probably with my real point and shoot and not my phone. But let me know which manicure you like best, which photos you like best and why. I love input!!!
