Getting caught up in it....

Well it's that time of year again. It's the time of year when Mike and I are practically having heart attacks every other night as we watch the San Jose Sharks battle it out in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Sports really do take you though an emotional roller coaster through each win, loss, should've won, accidental goal.... etc. And this series has been no exception.

But I had an interesting thought when I recently received comments on a facebook comment about a mistake made by a Sharks player this year. Me and another friend were disagreeing about whether or not it was acceptable.

It went a little something like this:

What struck me was Lauren's comment: This is why I don't watch sports.

I almost feel like we can apply this type of emotion and heartbreak to many different interests.

Lauren for instance, is into television, fashion and celebrities to name a few. Televisions shows can definitely disappoint us by not garnering enough viewers to remain on the air or by taking a plot twist we completely disagree with and ruining the show.

Celebrities can disappoint us with their by moral choices (ahem Jesse James) or with their horrible choice of wardrobe. Fashion can definitely disappoint (ahem, 80's movement in EVERY store currently).

Or music artists and disappoint us with their ignorance (ahem, John Mayer).

We wrap our emotions up in many things. We have many reasons to get heated about things. I guess when it comes to the sports and the Sharks we have to go through it once a year, every year at the same time. Five years in a row and we are still struggling through it. I guess we should be proud we get to this point at all. But honestly I still have faith.

Tonight Mike and I attend our second playoff game of the year. We hope it's a great one, one where the Sharks dominate and get the win they finally deserve. Here's to another year just praying the Sharks don't choke in the first or second round.
