The Indie Shop Nails

Hey everyone, I'm headed to The Indie Shop this weekend and I'm so totally excited I did nails in honor of the big day!





This look was completed using all Painted Polishes (one of the vendors at The Indie Shop)! The gradient is made using Venice Beach Babe (part of the last Indie Shop trio) and Haute Parisian Nights (part of this year's indie shop trio).



The base of the nail polish stamp is made using Painted Polish 2016 and the bottles are using the same two polishes as the gradient. Excited I finally had an excuse to break out my nail polish bottle stamp from my UberChic Beauty Collection 7!



I'm super pleased with these nails and very excited about tomorrow. I'm going solo (as my bestie is working), so if you see me, please come and say hello! I would love to meet you!

Carpe Noctem Cosmetics Midnight Violence

Hey everyone. Still clearing out my phone of some older swatches and nail art. Today I have a gorgeous shifty polish to share with you.

This beauty is Carpe Noctem Cosmetics Midnight Violence. I have some fun nail art inspired by a wine label later in the post so stay tuned after the swatches.













This is a gorgeous indigo blue polish that looks like the dark night sky. In addition to it's indigo holo beauty, it has a very very very sparse scattering of multichrome flakies, which you can see better in the bottle. It has a medium density holo with holo microglitter that sort of resemble stars. It also has pink shifting pigment which you can see in my tilted bottle shot best.

Most of the time though, it just looks like a deep indigo midnight sky. It's been awhile since I applied this, but I'm pretty sure it was opaque in two easy coats. It is sort of jellish, so it may have been three. I apologize this isn't the most confident review. I do remember it was easy to apply, I always remember the difficult ones!







I was greatly admiring this one wine bottle's label for quite some time and once I put on this polish I thought it was time to do a little nail art inspired by the wine! So I broke out my UberChic Beauty UC 7-01 and stamped using Essie Penny Talk. I think the final result looked great next to the label.

Dry Brush Spring Nail Art

Hey everyone, happy Monday. I want to start off this post with an apology, I've been pretty neglectful of my regular posting schedule and have fallen off the map a bit but I was trying to keep away from blogger burn out.

I have so much fun playing with nail polish, creating looks and swatching but I get to the hit publish stage and I just lag. It's the procrastinator in me! But I'm going to try and turn that around right quick, I hope you all will forgive my absence, and if you haven't noticed it, well then yay!



Today I have some banging nails I rocked while visiting family over Easter weekend after getting a ton of compliments on my Creme a la Mode dry brush nail art (see those nails, here!).



For these nails I started with a base of my favorite go-to holo Painted Polish 2016, a gorgeous holo polish with hidden iridescent flakies. Then I broke out some bright creme polishes to dry bush on top.



To dry brush, you take the brush of your nail polish and try to get as much of the polish off of it by running it back and forth over the open neck of the polish. Then, very lightly, take a stroke over the base polish to create a brush stroke. Repeat as much as you want until you have the look you desire! For this look I used KBShimmer Bahama Drama (coral), Color Club Blue Ming and Essie Using My Maiden Name (which isn't really a creme, but was the exact shade of purple I was looking for).



I think I went a bit too far stamping over this, but hey, I really wanted to add something to the look. To stamp I used Painted Polish Midnight Mischief and my Uber Chic Beauty 7-02 plate.



I took the above photo while getting out of town, and boy was there traffic so there was plenty of time to be distracted by my nails! In the end, I think the stamping did work, a lot of people told me they look like stained glass type of nails, which I guess works for the Easter holiday and all.

Happy Birthday to Me Nail Art

Hey everyone! Happy Friday, and happy birthday to me! Today I am 33. It's both a happy day and bittersweet day – I kinda sorta wanted a baby by now – and now I'm one year closer to that ominous age of 35 (were it becomes some higher percentage harder to try an conceive). And becoming older kind of nags at my brain like that.

So to bring out the happy I decided to do my nails up right! It's supposed to be a rainy few days this weekend and what better to bring a smile in the rain than some lovely neon polishes!!!



Above you'll see all the players for this look! I started with a white base and then sponged on a menagerie of Indigo Bananas (one of my favorite indies) neons.



To top off the whole look, because in California you never know when the sun might peek out from behind the clouds, I did a single layer of ILNP My Private Rainbow X, for a scattered holo cherry on top.



Then I stamped a geometric look from my UberChic Collection 7 (plate 7-02), not really caring if all the fingers were uniform. The polish I used was Painted Polish Midnight Mischief, a great stamping polish.



I used the latex barrier I have from ellagee, but I'm not quite sure if I'm doing something wrong or if the latex I use isn't quite good enough. Every time I go to peel my latex, the thin layer of dried polish that was on the barrier, does not come up when I remove the latex, it just stays stuck to the nail polish look. Which in the end almost defeats the purpose of using the latex, because then I have to clean up the polish mess. Meh, help me polish peoples!!!



I've only been rocking these nails for 24 hours and they've brought me so much joy already!



I'll end the post with a macro of my favorite nail, my thumb. I really liked how the thumb turned out because I think it was a good showcase of all the colors! :)

Not only am I a year older today, this month marks my second anniversary doing Newsie Nail Novice. So many happy things right now, my nails, this blog and life in general. Just gotta focus on the happy lovely rainbows in life! :)

Painted Polish Mystery Love

Happy Monday night everyone! Wanted to get this post up while this polish was still available so you could snag it while it is around for it's last restock!









I kept the teaser for this post as black and white so you could decide if you wanted to spoil the mystery or not, but just look how beautiful this polish is! This is Painted Polish Mystery Holo Un (Un is one in French) and is a gorgeous and bright berry colored holo polish with holo microglitter and a bright violet flash in the linear holo finish. Opaque in two great coats!









I knew I wanted to pair this polish with an equally great stamping look, to do justice to the holo bling! So I used Painted Polish Autumn Twilight, a gorgeous darkened purple creme that stamps super well using my Uber Chic Beauty Collection 07 plates (plate 7-03 to be specific) to stamp the filigree-esque design, which also is inverse on the thumb and ring fingers!

So grab this polish while it's still available (final restock is tonight), don't want you all to miss your shot at the gorgeousness!

40 Great Nail Art Ideas – Love

Hey everyone, happy Friday! We've made it! And I don't know about you, but now I have three glorious days off, and in fact, I got home a little early, which leaves me a few minutes to share with you the nails I've been rocking all week!!!









This gorgeous baby is Glam Polish WHATEVER.! As soon as I saw the swatches for this polish I knew I needed it. This baby is packed with holo shards and microglitters swimming in a beautiful red base that sometimes leans pink and sometimes leans orange. This color is everything, I just absolutely love it. Now be forewarned, this does dry very textured, but two coats of top coat totally smooths it out and once it dries it is full of so much depth I just want to swim amongst all the holo and red jelly goodness! Almost a one-coater, but I used two for this look!



Now I knew I wanted to do my obligatory Valentine's Day look with this as the base, so I broke out my new UberChic Beauty 7 collection and found these cute heart looks on the 07-1 plate and stamped using KBShimmer Eyes White Open and ta-da!



And wouldn't you know it, these nails also fit in perfectly with my Crumpet's Nail Tarts challenge this week: Love! Hearts = Love right?!



And let me tell you one awesome thing about this polish, I've been wearing this look since Monday afternoon and now it's Friday afternoon and not a chip on it. See the crappy office photo above, just took that this afternoon!

So my consensus on this polish, you need it! Wears like iron and is beautiful!!!

ILNP Gradient with Holo Stamping

Happy Wednesday everyone. This week is quickly flying by and I am so excited because I am going out of town wine tasting this weekend and after taking the last month off drinking, I'm ready to have some fun again. And thank you California winters because it looks like I'm going to have weather in the 70s for my outings!

Anyway today I have some terrifically bright nails to share with you.



I recently made a hefty ILNP purchase, thanks to a coupon code and a gift certificate from Christmas. As soon as I saw So Coral and Super Juiced, I knew I wanted to pair them together in a gradient, and I think the results are stunning.



I did put a layer of white polish down first, and I think the tip is for good gradients with a white base is good clean up of the white base. Try to clean away the white from the edges of the nail, so when you clean up your gradient, you don't get any white peeking through.



After finishing the gradient I knew I wanted to stamp over it, but I didn't want it to take away too much from the gradient. I originally thought I wanted to add a holo top coat to the gradient and then stamp with a solid color (like black), but then I decided that would be to distracting and take away from the beauty that is So Coral and Super Juiced. So I decided I would just stamp with holo color.



I used one of the new UberChic Beauty Collection 7 plates (restocking Feb. 9), using the geometric image from plate 7-02 with my M Polish To Have and to Holo. The result was super delicate, but I really liked it!



And a total happy coincidence, the manicure matches my walking shoes perfectly! It's been a goal of mine to reach 10,000 steps every day, and I've been doing my best so far using my fitbit! Having a lto of fun too!
