Glam Polish Picks and Nail Art

Hey everyone happy Monday! Let's hope this week is better than the last for sure! Today I'm sharing some fun I've had with a newer to me brand, Glam Polish, who has definitely not disappointed one bit since I've begun purchasing from them.

Untitled

Let's just say Glam Polish gets me. I guess I can say I've rejected Pantone's colors of the year, I don't even know what they are called, but they look like baby pink and blue. I feel they mock the difficultly I've been facing trying to have kids. Like a big, look see, let's just shove the baby stuff right in yo face.

The reason Glam Polish gets me is just as I am settling on the fact that I think my colors of 2016 are chartreuse and purple, here comes Glam with these amazing polishes!!!

This amazingly beautiful polish is Glam Polish Schadenfreude, from the Alphabet City collection, which is inspired by the Broadway musical Avenue Q, which I was lucky enough to see in New York City years ago!

This polish is my sunshine on gloomy days, it is bright and refreshing and amazing. It stands out without being neon, and its the perfect shade of chartreuse, not too green, not too yellow, but PERFECT! Schadenfreude is a lovely chartreuse green holographic polish filled with microglitters and holographic pigment in matching shades. The formula on this one was also perfect and applied easily with two coats.

Some of my favorite colors to pair with chartreuse are grey and navy, so expect to see more of that this year for sure. I've been finding a lot of happiness lately in the tiny bit of time I have to do nail art, so I threw some stamping on top of Schadenfreude using my UberChic Beauty 01-1 plate!

This stunning beauty is Glam Polish Daily Dilemma, a stunning purple holo polish with red microglitters creating a pinkish glow. This polish was practically a one-coater, which is good because I was playing with it just as my husband was ready to leave for dinner, so I did a super quick application with not problem at all!

Now when I say purple as a color of the year, I'm talking about the vibrant shades of purple. It seems to be a highly sought after color in the nail polish scene, and I've been surprised how much I've been drawn to them lately.

Another thing I've derived a lot of joy from lately is practicing different nail art methods, and I've been having a lot of fun playing with my UberMat to make reverse stamping nail decals. I'm learning lessons every time I make a decal that is for sure.

As you can tell here, don't mix strong pigments with white polish. It will bleed and screw up the crispness of the decal. The pink here is Smitten Polish (now Dreamland Lacquer) Date Night, a Valentine's polish from last year, which is super gorgeous and bright fun pink, but the pigment is strong.  For the stamping images here I used my MoYou London Holly 03 plate which I got from US Distributor What's Up Nails (super fast shipping, highly recommend, also where I got my clear stamper).

So I'm clearly still learning my stuff, but playing for fun is part of why I love polish. It is a true escape for me and I've liked being able to mix in the nail art again. I know everyone likes straight swatches of full collections too, but nail art is what keeps it interesting for me!

I just went and got a collection of colored Sharpies earlier today so I hope to do some watercolor work at some point as well. Was hoping to get around to that this weekend but it didn't happen.

Anyway Glam Polish has been killing it lately and if I could buy all the Glams I would! They are coming out with a new Clueless-inspired collection on Friday, and I know I want to pick up at least one of those! Any Glams you've been lusting after or playing with lately?!

Winery Weekend Nails

Hey everyone, I'm just back from a wonderful weekend away with my family in wine country and I just couldn't wait to share with you the nails I sported for my time away!

Untitled

This is a look using three Indigo Bananas holo polishes the fall collection (note, these were originally sent for review which I did here) and made a skittle look using decals and gradients.

Untitled

To create this look I used a gradient of Indigo Montoya, Rhythm & Booze and Polish of Unusual Quality on my thumb, middle and pinkie fingers and used the same three colors to create the decals on my index and ring fingers.

Untitled

Creating the decals definitely took work, but I think the payoff was great! To start I broke out my UberChic Beauty Uber Mat and painted two coats of the Zoya top coat I had laying around. I find using regular top coat works best for decals because it doesn't flake away as easily.

Once the top coat was dried (like 5 minutes) I stamped the image from the LilyAnna Plate 10 from Messy Mansion using my Rica Blackout polish and then very carefully using a fine nail art brush I filled in randomly each opening using the three colors.

Untitled

Once I finished one decal, I painted a fresh coat of Indigo Montoya on nail I wanted the decal on and while it was still wet, I placed the decal on the nail using tweezers. Now the decal was obviously bigger than my nail, so once I gently placed the decal in the spot I wanted it, I used acetone and my clean up brush to make the edges adhere to the nail and to clean up the extra decal. The decal will look a bit cloudy until a top coat goes on top (after clean up) but it looks AMAZING when it is completely finished.

Untitled

So I know the lighting isn't the greatest for this shot and I maaaaaaay have been a bit tipsy when taking this shot, but I wanted to show you my nails and my wine of course. I had a great time in Paso Robles with my family, we were celebrating my dad's birthday and we went wine tasting and stayed at this awesome ranch house in Templeton where we encountered cows, horses, tarantulas, gorgeous sunsets and just an all around pleasant peacefulness.

Untitled

It was a great weekend, and I've got another family filled one in store this coming week. My cousin is getting hitched in the woods this weekend and so I'll no doubt have another fun look to share with you soon! Hope you all had great weekends as well!

Fair Maiden Polish Just a Mirage

Good morning everyone! Bear with me this morning as I am coming out of a 36 hour fever-induced haze. I caught a terrible flu from my husband and after spending all day in bed yesterday I'm just now coming out of it!

Untitled

The polish I'm sharing with you today is a gift from the makers of Fair Maiden Polish and boy oh boy is this polish an absolute stunner. I've been holding back on sharing this, because I wanted to make sure it was close enough to the launch of their fall collection, so that you would be prepared should you want to purchase this stunner.

Untitled

This is Fair Maiden Polish Just a Mirage and it is a lovely wine colored holographic polish, just the shade I love the most for vamp in the fall. It applies fully opaque in two coats and has a great formula I've come to know and love from Fair Maiden Polish.

Untitled

Now because I can't leave well enough alone, I just knew I had to pair this polish with another Fair Maiden, and since I had just gotten my UberChic Uber Mat, I thought I'd give a go at making a decal.

Untitled

I took a flower design from my first collection of Uber Chic plates, stamped with white on top of a dried off portion of regular top coat (not quick dry, I find just plain top coat works best) and then I colored it in with Fair Maiden Polish Maiden's Blush (which isn't available on their website at the moment but is available at Color4Nails, did you know that Fair Maiden Polish is available at Color4Nails now?! Well now you do!).

Untitled

After I was sure that my decal was dry, I used tweezers to gently pick the decal up and place it on my accent nails for a cohesive look.

Untitled

Overall I was in love with this polish and am just drooling over some other shades in this new collection. The collection is called Swords and Lace: A Renaissance Fantasy Collection and for a full review of swatches, head on over to Ida Nails It! She has an excellent round up! The collection is due to be available at the Fair Maiden Polish website at 12 p.m. CST Saturday September 19.

So now let's dish, which of the new Fair Maiden Polish collection do you have your eyes set on?! My favorite, besides Just a Mirage, is definitely High Priestess!
