Indigo Bananas Holo Multi Chrome Review Pt. 1

Hey guys, so as I showed you in my last post, I've been given a hefty load of polishes to review from Indigo Bananas so I thought I'd break them down by what looks most similar so today I am sharing with you the warmer color shifting holo flakies.

Untitled
*Press Sample*

Let's lump the formula portion of this post all together, because the formula on the Indigo Bananas Holo Mega Chrome Flakies is the same. They all apply opaque in three coats, no sponging required. I would wait at least 1 minute between coats (basically while you do your other hand) so that you don't drag the flakies down. I love the formula on these, it is the perfect mix of holo pigment and multi-chrome flakies. The flakies also lay flat on the nail and are not difficult to remove at all.

For the post I've included three different views per polish: one in direct light, one in indirect light and one macro. These are also shown sans top coat, so sorry these aren't super shiny and if a flakie looks a little textured, it's only because I haven't glossed over it with top coat. Typically it wouldn't look that way. Let's get started!

This is Indigo Bananas Fantastic Planet Holo. This polish flakie shows primarily pink/red, as you can tell in the direct sunlight shot, but it's true flakie shift is that of a darker violet, to pink/magenta, to gold to green. Of all the pinky shades (in this post), this is the most magenta/purple leaning.

Untitled

This is Indigo Bananas Dawn Chorus Holo. This flakie shift, while also primarily pink/red (even more so than Fantastic Planet), its shifts from pink to gold to green. This polish clearly shows more of the gold/green shift than Fantastic Planet.

This is Indigo Bananas Color of the Fire Holo. This flakie shift leans pink/red, but shows even more of the cooler color shift. Note, sorry these swatches are a bit different, they are from a previous post where I reviewed the polish initially. This flakie shift shows most of the rainbow, almost a stronger more obvious shift from pink/red to orange to gold to green.

And finally, this is Indigo Bananas Hay Ride Holo. The shift in this one is very subtle but shifts between a bright gold and a more copper gold. I love this one, it definitely is different from the rest of the collection because it shifts less, but I've seen nothing like it! I think this polish could be a really topper come the holidays (think of what it would look like over a red or green!). Or even in the fall, it really reminds me of the changing colors of the leaves! This polish is so versatile!

Now these polish can be worn opaque, like I've shown above but also as a topper, so I decided to do a side by side comparison of the polishes as a topper and then side-by-side comparison of them opaque.

Side by side you can really see their shifts a little more clearly – there is clearly something for everyone here!

Indigo Banana's Holo Mega Chrome Flakies are available now on the Indigo Bananas website and retail for $12 for full size (15ml) and $7.25 for a mini (8ml).

Which is your favorite!?! Which shade are you most likely to purchase?! Was this post at all helpful for you to distinguish between the warmer flakies of this collection? I'd love to hear your feedback!!!

Indigo Bananas Sea Quake Holo

Today I have some more swatches of another amazing holo flakie polish courtesy of Indigo Bananas.

Untitled
*Press Sample*

This lovely polish is Indigo Bananas Sea Quake Holo. This polish is filled with green to teal to purple to magenta chrome flakies floating in a sea of holographic polish. It takes three coats for this opacity. I just love these chrome holo flakies, beautiful in the sun and in the shade – perfect on their own or as toppers (see later in this post).

Untitled

Untitled

The formula on this is great, easy to apply, no sponging required. The flakies lay flat on the nail and removal is a breeze as well. Let's see some more swatches in the wild shall we?

Untitled

Untitled

As promised, I have a side-by-side comparison quick swatches of the three Indigo Banana Holo Mega Chrome Flakies as toppers over Zoya Chantal (my holy grail nude creme polish). These look great as a topper, especially over this nude polish. I bet though, there could be some awesome combos over different colored creme polishes as bases. I'll definitely have to try that out in the future!

From left to right, we have A Field Trip with Butterflies Holo, Color of the Fire Holo and Sea Quake Holo. They look so gorgeous side by side, a Mega Chrome rainbow!

Indigo Banana's Holo Mega Chrome Flakies are available now on the Indigo Bananas website and retail for $12 for full size (15ml) and $7.25 for a mini (8ml).

So which of these flakies are your favorite?! I really love them side by side, I will definitely be rocking that look at another time in the future.

Indigo Bananas A Fields Trip with Butterflies Holo

Recently Indigo Bananas came out with holo versions of their Mega Chrome Flakies collection and I was sent a few to review! Today I'll share with you the fun I had with A Field Trip with Butterflies Holo, complete with a comparison with it's ILNP counterpart.

Untitled

Now I am going to warn you now, this post will be extra photo heavy because this polish has so many different looks to it. In the shade it shifts from green to teal to blue. In the sun, the holo totally comes out to play.

Untitled

Untitled

Untitled

Untitled

Application on this one was a breeze, three coats for full opacity. This application is with the brush, no sponging required! The flakies lay flat on the nail and are not difficult to remove at all!

What I really like about this particular brand's take on holo finish, is that it is a good portion of holo. In the shade the polish clearly isn't only flakies, which is what I prefer. Close up the flakies look interspersed throughout the holo, instead of just a sprinkling of spectraflair that really is only visible in the sun. It's a good mixture of both the flakie and the holo trends! To illustrate this point a bit I've compared three coats of Indigo Bananas A Field Trip with Butterflies Holo (bottom nail) with ILNP Gaia Holo (upper nail).

Untitled

Untitled

Sorry I know my macros are not the best, but this clearly shows that A Field Trip with Butterflies packs more a punch in the holo and the flakie department! More bang for your buck with the IG and no sponging application required! :)

Since I can never leave well enough alone, I added a little nail stamping to the mix. I've had this butterfly nail stamping image forever and never pulled it out to use it and since butterflies was in the name of this very polish, thought it was high time I actually attempted some butterfly nails!

The Indigo Banana Holo Mega Chrome polishes can also be used as toppers, but I haven't tried that out yet. I have two more of these to show you in future posts, and hopefully by the last one I'll have a comparison of them side by side as toppers so you can see that effect.

Indigo Bananas can be purchased at their website in full bottles (15ml) or mini bottles (8ml), which I always love because then if you aren't sure you'll like it, you can always just test it out. A Field Trip with Butterflies is $12 for full size and $7.25 for mini. Also Indigo Bananas usually has all their polish in stock, so you aren't dealing with out of control restocks or stressful purchasing situations.

You can look for Indigo Bananas news on their Facebook page and Instagram account (which is having a giveaway right now, so go check it out!). And if you are an Indigo Bananas lover, you should totally join us in the We're Bananas for Indigo Bananas Facebook fan group, we are currently having an IG nail art contest!

So what are your feelings about the flakie craze? Love it? Over it? Liking all the possibilities one can experience with flakies? Like it with holo or as a topper? Share with me your thoughts! I've been very intrigued with the flakies jelly combos I've been seeing out there lately!

Indigo Bananas Spring Polish Review and Easter Nail Art

Hey guys, today I've got a press sample from Indigo Banana's Spring Quintet to share with you!

Untitled

Today I'm sharing with you two of these five glass fleck scattered holo pastel collection that is just perfect for the spring when everything is in bloom!

Untitled

Untitled

First up we have Land of Green Ginger which is a gorgeous minty green creme polish with lovely golden glass fleck and scattered holo pieces swimming throughout the polish. The holo is very subtle, but a fun addition to the polish that you aren't expecting. It mostly looks like a mint polish with a golden glow, but in certain angles in direct light you can really see the holo pieces come out to play.

This polish was on the thicker side, but I'm guessing that is because it had so many elements too it. It wasn't difficult to work with. This is three coats with a top coat. The first coat looks very patchy and the second coat completely covers that, I added the third to completely hide the nail line.

Untitled

Untitled

Next we have Saffron Revolution with is a lovely peach leaning pastel coral polish with lovely blue glass flecks and scattered holo finish. This was very similar in appearance as Land of Green Ginger, with that hidden holo coming out to play making this polish so special.

Application was the same as Land of Green Ginger, with Saffron Revolution being just a tad thinner, but barely noticeable. I would suggest allowing a little dry time between each coat for best results. This is three coats with top coat.

And because I like to add a little nail art to my reviews, and Easter is just around the corner, I decided to combine the polishes for a fun seasonal look.

Untitled

Untitled

Now please forgive me for the stamping here, it's not the greatest job I've ever done. I think clearly, I've been out of practice for awhile and I need to jump back into this stat! But for this look I used designs from Bundle Monster Plate BM-603 using KBShimmer Eyes White Open to create this fun Easter egg look. These two colors pair so well together, and their pastel brightness made them the perfect backdrop for this fun decorated-egg look.

Overall I was very impressed with these two polishes, and am definitely eying the entire collection. One thing I've always really liked about Indigo Bananas is that the creator always does something a little different than everyone else out there. Just when I was starting to hear people ask about glass fleck finish making a comeback, bam, here is Indigo Bananas fulfilling that want and taking it a step further with that scattered holo.

The Spring Quintet was just released this week at the Indigo Bananas website. Full size 15ml bottles of this collection retail for $10 and if you just want to sample, they have 8ml bottles for $6.50.

Also recently released was the holo versions of Indigo Bananas Mega Chrome Flakies, which I have a few of to show you in another post sometime soon!

Oh and if you are already a fan of Indigo Bananas, you should totally join us in the We're Bananas for Indigo Bananas Facebook fan group, we are currently having an IG nail art contest!!!

So what do you think of these polishes? Have you tried Indigo Bananas before, what did you think? Which IGs are your favorite?

Indigo Bananas Holo Chrome Flakies Review

Wow are flakies all the rage these days! Flakies, flakies everywhere! Everyone seems to be under the flakie spell lately and I am definitely no exception!

Today I am sharing with you three new Indigo Bananas Holo Chrome Flakies which I totally had the luck to win in The Mercurial Magpie's Holiday Hullabalo!

I'm not going to lie, it is super late here (I'm typing this the evening before the post goes live), midnight in fact. But I couldn't sleep without delivering the magical flakie goodness! So I goof on typos or am a little loopy, please forgive me!

Anyway, on to the review. These aren't just your typical flakies, these are holo flakies, taking the whole flakie craze to the NEXT level. And since it's holo, you know I had to jump all over that!

Formula wise, these were all a pleasure to work with. Each polish was packed with various sized chrome flakies (there were a few stray larger pieces, but not too many that stood out) and the formulas were all very easy to work with. Removal was a breeze too, just like a creme polish practically, nothing like a gritty glitter.

Indigo Banana's Chrome Flakies Collection features four different polishes (three you see here) in both holo and non holo versions. The three I have here are all the holo versions. I have a close up (because let's be honest, I don't have the equipment for a macro) of each polish in the bottle, a shot in direct light and a shot in shaded light. These polishes all retail for $12 (15ml) and $7.25 (8ml). That is one of the things I love so much about Indigo Bananas, they always have their polishes available in a mini size, so if you aren't sure the polish is the right fit, you can pay less for a smaller amount.

Anyway onto the individual polishes.

Event Horizon (Holo) is a green-blue to purple chrome flakie polish with linear holographic glow in direct light. I found this polish to be opaque in two coats, but added an extra one just for the extra flair. I looooved this color, it definitely felt aquatic to me, so you will most definitely see this in an ocean-themed mani in the future!

Accretion Disk (Holo) was the most complex of the three I got to try. This polish hosted multi-colors of chromes, and almost translated to a full rainbow on the nail. Under direct light you see green, a rosey-copper and gold shifts with the holo bling thrown in for full measure. This was my favorite of these three, and the one I reapplied after swatching all these polishes. Once again, two coats for opacity, three for extra bling!

Galactic Halo is a royal purple to radiant orchid multichrome flakie with hints of gold and copper at certain angles. Under direct light, this is mostly royal purple, but still very complex! This one seemed to require three coats for full opacity.

The Indigo Bananas website says that these polishes are meant to be worn on their own, but can be used as a topper, so I wanted to see how that looked. These are rough and dirty swatches I did on three fingers so you could see the polishes and their shifts side by side. Once again, I'll share one shot in direct light and one in shaded light. The undies I used are OPI Don't Bossa Nova Me Around.

Overall I would definitely recommend that you check these polishes out. They are different than your average mulitchrome flakie, and you can order a mini of these polishes if you aren't quite sure and just want to test out the trend. Andrea of Indigo Bananas, as of yesterday I think, released her own line of Mega Chrome Flakies, which also are available in mini sizes. The Mega Chrome Flakies, from what I can tell, seem similar to the ILNP Ultra Chrome Flakies, which I reviewed a few weeks ago. What she released yesterday is the first of three different releases of her Mega Chrome Flakies!

Which of these is your favorite? Have you tried out Indigo Bananas before, I'd love to hear what polishes you have from IG!!!
