Stamping Saturday featuring Literary Lacquers

Today I have a rare Saturday post to share with you all! I was playing with all sorts of fun polish this morning and I thought, well I need to share something today, I can't hold all this in!

So I remembered Stamping Saturday used to be a thing right? I can't find an inlinkz code or anything, but thought I would participate and add my post if I ever do find an active inlinkz!

Today I broke out Literary Lacquers Strong Steady Hand. Literally as I was finishing watermarking these photos, I see my husband walk by the window with some nail mail! I wasn't expecting anything, so I was intrigued and wouldn't you know it, it was the new Literary Lacquers Vurt-U-Want collection sent to me for review. So expect those swatches sometime in the near future!

Anyway onto the fun nail stamping nail art!

Untitled

Strong Steady Hand is a lovely orange leaning peach holographic polish. The polish features fine peach spectralacquer creating a lovely linear holo effect but also has matching micro flakies that give it an extra bling and bring it up to the next level. The polish was easy to work with, two thin coats for opacity. I would suggest a top coat though, the microflakies do provide a rougher finish (nothing textured or anything though).

I also went out side to show off the polish so you could see in all sorts of lighting as well!

For the stamping I broke out my UberChic Beauty plate 1-02, with a ton of floral images! It's pretty funny this polish is called Strong Steady Hand because that is what I needed to stamp today. My stamping was just clearly not on point. :( But I do like the final result, it is soft and pretty! I used Rica Blackout as my stamping polish, this is my go-to black polish.

Anyway, that is all for today. If you haven't tried out Literary Lacquers before I suggest you go check her out, and see the new collection (which I'll review for you soon) and her oldies as well! Literary Lacquers can be purchased at the Literary Lacquers Etsy Shop.

Fair Maiden Polish Garden Party Nail Art

Today I have another press sample to share with you. The lovely ladies at Fair Maiden Polish were kind enough to send me two samples from their upcoming Garden Party collection and boy did I have a ball playing with the polishes!

Untitled

The polishes I am playing with today are Blue Moon Wisteria and Maiden's Blush and they are just two out of the lovely 9-polish Garden Party collection. For a review of the complete collection, make sure to check out The Mercurial Magpie's awesome rundown of the polishes!

Untitled

Untitled

First up we have Blue Moon Wisteria, which is a super difficult polish to capture in a photograph. As you can tell, both these shots look a bit different. I color edited the top one as best I could (but believe me I am no pro). Basically this is a lovely blue leaning lavender creme, which photographs way more blue than it is in real life. It is pretty close to the top photo, but even more light purple leaning, and as you can tell in that photo, it has this vibrant violet pink flash that sets the polish apart from your average blurple.

The formula on this polish was a little watery, but not too difficult to work with, just need to be a little careful with application, don't over load the brush and you're fine. Two coats for this opacity.

Untitled

Next up we have Maiden's Blush, which is a light purple leaning mauve holo with these amazing pink flakies that really make the polish special and set it apart from your average holo polish. Fair Maiden Polish is so talented at always making something special about each polish that makes it unique in each collection.

This polish was opaque in two coats and was a breeze to apply. The consistency was thicker than Blue Moon Wisteria, but just the right thickness that made application easy like buttah!

Now on to the nail art!

Untitled

Untitled

As you can immediately tell, I did not color edit these photos, so Blue Moon Wisteria is looking a bit more blue than it actually is. But the lovely violet flash in Blue Moon Wisteria compliments the purple tones in Maiden's Blush perfectly. They paired quite well together!

I added the green (which is Zoya Tracie) because I thought it contrasted well with both polishes and added that something extra! I used nail vinyls to create the funky french look and then used a dotting tool to add Tracie to the mix! Then because this polish is from the Garden Party collection and I just had to add something floral, so I used the dotting tool again to make a pinkie and thumb flower!

Now I bet you're wondering, "how can I get my hands on these polishes?!" These polishes will be available at the Fair Maiden Polish website at 10 a.m. CTS March 21. Their polishes usually sell out quickly, so if you want to snag a few, make sure to send yourself a reminder, I know I will! But if you miss this stock of the collection, the makers have said these polishes will return to their site, so have no fear!

So have you tried Fair Maiden Polish before?! Which are your favorite from their upcoming collection? I know I want to snag Gilded Garden, Sweet Honeysuckle, Green Goddess and Mint Succulent!

Floral nail art for a summer wedding

So as I am getting older, I attend less and less weddings! It's somewhat of a relief, as I remember summers where I was going to one every other weekend.

Earlier this summer my husband and I had the pleasure of attending a wedding, and I feel like it just might have been the first wedding we attended where neither one of us were actually in the wedding – which is bliss. No need for a fancy bridesmaid dress or tux or a fuss about your appearance. No showing up early, making sure things are on schedule – just attend, enjoy your meal and have some fun.

Us with the lovely newlyweds!

Anyway, so today I am sharing with you the nails I sported for said wedding!

Since this was an outdoor wedding, I decided to go for a floral theme. I went to my recently purchased pile and pulled out Different Dimension Garden Goddess and then picked out a floral stamp to go on top.

Garden Goddess' formula was a little on the thick side, but it wasn't so much so that it was difficult to work with. The holo finish in it is a little weaker than some holo bombs I sport, but it is subtle and I think it's beautiful.

I stamped using MoYou London Pro Plate 06. I used Essie Hip-Anema, which is an orange-leaning red creme polish to stamp with. Was hoping it would go well with my coral dress.

Where to purchase: You can purchase Different Dimension polishes at their shop on Etsy. I believe I purchased this polish at Llarowe for $13.

So I hoped you liked my wedding nails today guys! What nails and designs do you typically sport for weddings? Do you do different designs for outdoor weddings or indoor weddings? Share with me you wedding nail tales!

Guest Post from Cait at Polish Hound

While I am away I have some very gracious fellow bloggers filling in for me! Cait at Polish Hound was kind enough to share this look with me! I hope you enjoy! Make sure to follow her at the link below, you won't be sorry I promise! Her swatches and photography are top notch!

Hey guys! I'm Cait from Polish Hound, and today I'm mega-thrilled to be guest posting on Newsie Nail Novice!

I've got some simple and colorful dotted nail art to share.  I feel that if I can do this design, anyone can! This is only my second time attempting to make floral prints using dotting tools, and I think it went a little better than my first. Although, whether you prefer this style, in which the petals are more separated, or the first is really subjective.  There are so many ways to make flowers with dots, and it's going to be fun to experiment more in the future!

Polishes used:

The base color is Misa- Forbidden Lust. I used LVX- Cliquot for the stamping & center dots, and OPI- You Are So Outta Lime! for the green outer dotted petals. I love the color of the green petals, but You Are So Outta Lime! is a little sheer for dotting, and I had to go over some of the same dots twice, as you can probably tell.

The stamped design is from MoYou London- Pro XL 11.

I'm just finally getting into dotted florals, (actually floral in general), and I don't know if the world is sick of them yet. What do you guys think?

Thank you, Traci, for having me! Hope everyone has an awesome day!

Indigo Bananas Maui Wowee with floral nail stamping

This polish was a stunner from the moment I put it on my nails – Indigo Banana Maui Wowee.

 photo 9AD1CFD1-CBC1-4497-B354-41C191F0D508_zpsqy7qh7yr.jpg

The polish itself is a periwinkle blue color which boasts a duochrome shift to a beautiful lavender purple. Oh and did I mention this is also a holographic polish?!?!

And not just a little holographic, this polish shines in the sun!

 photo 708F3F78-2D08-4F3F-B3E7-D11644C3C13A_zpsd1fdn8vd.jpg

Because this was such a gentle blue-purple polish, I thought this polish would be great topped with a floral stamp, increasing the delicate spring-like feel this polish possesses! I used MoYou Pro Plate 06.

Thankfully, this manicure post falls right in line with The Lacquer Legion's monthly mani theme: garden!

It's May, and this month we're growing a Lacquer Legion garden! We want to see your garden inspired manicures, whether that means flowers, fruits, vegetables, insects, critters or anything in between. Feel free to get creative!

 photo 796D9732-CE85-4DF5-BF85-207433A5D3B2_zpsvyeqcnjz.jpg

Application: This polish wore beautifully and went on perfectly with two thin coats. The formula on this was really amazing, I wore it for a day or two without the stamping first and then for another day or two with the stamping. I did not want to take it off! This seriously is one of my favorite manicures I've done in quite awhile! I used HK Girl top coat, no dulling effect to the amazing holo!!!

Where to purchase: You can purchase Indigo Bananas polishes from their website, I bought this mini bottle (8ml) for $7.25. I really like their shop because you can purchase mini polishes or large polishes, which is a great way to sample a new-to-you indie polish maker. So far I have loved all of their polishes!

So did you all participate in The Lacquer Legion this month? It was my first time doing so, and honestly it was because of happenstance. I'll do more to prepare next month!!!
