Both of these polishes are special in their own way. One is a Mother's Day polish, specially made for the Hella Holo Custom Facebook group, in honor of a mother who has passed. The other is an awesome charity polish created for super special person.
Let's get started with the Mother's Day polish shall we?!
This is Literary Lacquers Makuahine. This is a gorgeous golden chapagne linear holo with gold metallic flecks and pink rosy glass fleck. This shines so bright under direct light and the beautiful pink flash comes out to play in indirect lighting. It is a bit on the sheerer side, so it took three coats for opacity to avoid visible nail line, but the formula was top notch.
Here is a tidbit about how this polish honors a mother figure now gone:
While Aubrey was away, I kept thinking of a way to honor Stacy, a celebration of her life and of all lives of women that have nurtured us. The result is Makuahine. The metallic finish represents the strength that our mother figures have in all that they do for those they hold dear. The warm earthy color represents the love and care they bring forth to us. The Hawaiian name, Makuahine (Ma-koo-ah-hee-nay) was chosen because Stacy spent so much of her life on the islands, it seemed to fit.
To order this polish you have to be a member of Hella Holo Customs Facebook Group, if you aren't already a member, just email hellaholocustomercare@gmail.com with the topic 'JOIN'. This polish is available for preorder through May 10.
Next up is another touching tribute polish, but this one has funds going toward a completely worthy cause. This is Literary Lacquers Tonight's Adventures and it is the most amazing pink leaning coral linear holo. You all know I love my coral holos and this one is just so stunning and lovely I'm in love with it. It also has some violety pink glass fleck in it, creating another layer of interest to this polish. It is bright happy and fun and perfect for a summer night out on the town.
Like I said this polish is a charity polish, from now through the end of May, $5 of every $13 bottle of Tonight's Adventures is being donated to the International OCD Foundation (http://iocdf.org). How generous is that.
Now the really really touching part about this polish, it was designed with a Amy's friend Debbie Wolf DeMars, as a tribute to a lovely lady. Here is what Debbie wrote about it:
Imagine you have this amazing friend. She’s super smart, the kind of smart that would be intimidating if she weren’t so down to earth and nice. So instead of feeling inferior you learn from her. The kind of friend who pushes you to be a better person, and pushes you to question what you know and what you stand for. Imagine she has a wicked sense of humor. When you are together you laugh deep in your belly and your eyes tear. She’s caring and genuine and you know if you needed anything she would be there for you. Now imagine she has a teenage daughter and that daughter has all the amazing qualities of her mother. She’s spunky, smart and incredibly sweet. Sounds awesome, doesn’t it? And it is! Except that this amazing young woman, in addition to being brilliantly gifted and wickedly funny, also lives with mental illness. Her name is Sage. She is strong and brave but the road is hard and there are many bumps (hospitalizations) along the way. It is a constant fight. As their friend you feel helpless. You feel their pain so deeply it hurts but you are at a loss as to how to help. This is me and these are my friends. During one such hospital stay, amidst my feelings of helplessness, I had the idea of doing a charity polish in Sage’s honor, to raise money for OCD, one of the mental illnesses from which she suffers. I reached out to Amy with the idea and she was immediately 100% on board. Not only was she on board, she offered to donate a generous $5 per bottle sold to the IOCDF (International OCD Foundation)! Thank you, Amy, for your thoughtfulness and generosity! Being able to do something like this makes me feel like we are helping not only my friends but the countless others out there who are battling OCD. Please consider purchasing a bottle of this special polish in honor of my courageous young friend, Sage.
You guys, the story behind this polish, oh my goodness. That story alone makes me want to buy a bunch of backups or gifts of this polish for other people in my life (and being that this color is just up my Mom's alley, I might just do that!).
Also the sun shot of this you guys, it's even more bright and lovely in the sun. Also, while I was out on one of my many walks, I put my nails up next to some beautiful flowers and darn it if they didn't almost match my nails completely!
And because I got these polishes at the same time and thought they would pair well together, I threw together a quick little nail vinyl look to show just how well these babies pair up together!
So yes, I do think you need both of these polishes. As a tribute to mother's everywhere and as a tribute to Sage and her bravery.
