Créme á la Mode Winter 2015 Box

Happy Friday everyone! I have today off my day job, but I'm spending the day with my mom working with her dressed as an elf selling Christmas ornaments at a craft fair!

Today I have a super awesome box full of indie polish cremes, perfect for nail art and also just so beautiful on its own. This is the Créme á la Mode box, winter edition, which takes somewhat of a twist on normal holiday colors! Indies in the box are super great brands Indigo Bananas, Literary Lacquers, Octopus Party Nail Lacquer and Digital Nails.

And stay tuned until the end because I've put together some stamping to show off how these work in the nail stamping department!

First up we have the ever sultry Indigo Bananas Scarlet Night. This is a lovely squishy oxblood red polish, which is a bit crelly in consistency. Since it is a thinner formula this took three coats for opacity, but just look at that shine!

Next up we have is Literary Lacquers Breathing Dreams Like Air, this is a dusty purple creme polish with a lovely formula. Thicker than Scarlet Night, but applies like buttah in two perfect coats. Love this one, I want a sweater in just the same color!

Now we have a very non traditional holiday color, this is Octopus Party Nail Lacquer Malibu Stacy's Mom. Now while this isn't typical for winter, in California this can be a year round color. Especially since we're supposed to get a lot of rain this year, this will cheer me right up when I'm longing for some sunshine. This was also a lovely two coat formula, has a nice shiny finish.

Finally we have Digital Nails Arboreal. This is my type of color for sure, a lovely green leaning teal almost makes me think a bit of a bright juniper. I love this color with the oxblood red of Scarlet Night, they make a non typical Christmas pairing I hope to play with later this season for sure. This was also a great two coater formula.

Now to show you how they stamped, I used the same stamp to over three of the colors to show you how best to used these as stamps.

This is an amazing group of polishes for a super affordable price! The box, which is available for preorder starting on Sunday, is only $26 (plus shipping). The preorder is open for one week starting November 15 through November 21 at the Créme á la Mode Box Bigcartel site. Each of these polishes will be available in each of the brand's individual sites for regular price, but I would get them all now because the discount is so worth it! Since this is a preorder, the box will ship in the two weeks following the end of the preorder period.

Keep up with the Créme á la Mode Box via their Facebook page, Instagram account and the super fun fantabulous fan group!

What great nail art do you want to create with these four colors? The possibilities are endless!

Créme á la Mode Nail Art

So today I've got a quick post for y'all showcasing some of the fine nail art you can create using the indie cremes in the Créme á la Mode box! If you missed my full review of this box, check out my post from Friday!

These babies go on sale today and I just wanted to show you how well they stamp, because stamping is just so great and finding opaque cremes that stamp, well that is even more awesome.

Untitled

So this shows a look using all the polishes in the box: the red (Octopus Party Nail Lacquer Universal Loner), the blue (Literary Lacquers Blue Stocking Romance), the taupe (Digital Nails Tauping Mechanism) and the berry (Indigo Bananas Dark Side of Maroon).

I'm not sure how well they would go over darker colors, but as you can see they all look great over a light base and Tauping Mechanism stamps well over the darker colors!

Untitled

Another favorite thing I like to do with cremes is match them with a complimentary holo (because holo all the things!!!). So here I've used an aztec chevron nail vinyl to separate the cremes from the holo.

Untitled

For the holo matches I used Darling Diva The Alchemist with the Universal Loner, Elevation Polish Ephemeral Sands with Tauping Mechanism, Indigo Bananas Polish of Unusual Quality (a holo from her fall release which I'll have up on Wednesday) with Dark Side of Maroon and Elevation Polish Muztagh Ata with Bluestocking Romance.

Untitled

Not all of these match quite perfectly, but I thought they looked okay enough.

So these are just a few of the many many many things you can do with a good indie creme and you're in luck! These suckers are available for preorder starting today! The box is $26 + shipping which is an amazing deal and they are available for preorder today through Sunday August 23 at the Créme á la Mode Big Cartel website. Word on the street is these will be available individually in the maker's individual shops sometime after the preorder ship, at retail price.

Hope you like these ideas, not super exciting, but I thought it showed off a few things you can do with cremes!

Créme á la Mode Fall Indie Box

Hey guys! Happy Friday everyone, I'm very excited to show you an all creme indie box that is new on the scene.

Now we all know I love holos so very much, but I do love cremes too. They are the perfect canvas for nail art and they are wonderful for stamping and they are so versatile. And now that my collection keeps growing, there is an obvious hole: the indie creme polish. So I was ecstatic when Andrea of Indigo Bananas called on me to swatch this box for her!

This is the Créme á la Mode box. It is a quarterly box that is inspired by colors of the season. This is the fall box and I'll have more details at the end of the post! Let's get to the gorgeous swatches shall we?!?!

This is Literary Lacquers Blue Stocking Romance and this is a gorgeous navy creme. I painted two thin coats, but some people may get away with one thick coat. I just prefer two for ultimate coverage. The formula was a dream to work with and I just love this color. It is a gorgeous perfect navy. Makes me think of dark fall skies!

Untitled

This is Octopus Party Nail Lacquer Universal Loner and this a gorgeous true red that leans a little on the brick side for me. This could be one coat, but like I said, I prefer two thin coats. Dries to a super shiny finish and is just amazing!!! This will be good during the holidays, but also is just a super sexy color on its own!

Untitled

This is Digital Nails Tauping Mechanism, such a fun name. This is a gorgeous grey leaning taupe on me, and is the perfect fall neutral. Usually taupe colors don't look so great on me but this was grey leaning enough that it ended up looking pretty great. This works as a wonderful base with these other colors for stamping – I can also picture this paring well with holos of many colors!

And finally we have Indigo Bananas Dark Side of Maroon, which is a lovely deep berry creme. This is two coats and is super shiny! I love how this is vampy, but also happy and bright at the same time, walks the line between fall and summer quite nicely if I do say so myself!

I hear these stamp very well too, and I plan to put that to the test in a post next week, where I will incorporate these in a nail art look and put them to the stamping test! So look out for those.

And want to know what else is great about this box?! It's affordable, like cheaper than mainstream affordable! The box is $26 + shipping which is an amazing deal and they are available for preorder Monday August 17 through Sunday August 23 at the Créme á la Mode Big Cartel website. Word on the street is these will be available individually in the maker's individual shops sometime after the preorder ship, at retail price. But why wait?! I would totally get this box at an awesome price and then get a chance to try all these different indie brands that you may not have experienced before.

I am so impressed with the quality of these and it is totally making me want to build my indie creme collection for sure! Down with my mainstream cremes, I want an indie only collection, and with this awesome box and these awesome makers, I can totally start building that!

Let me know which one is your favorite and do you have any requests for nail art with these cremes?!? I'm looking forward to playing with these more this weekend!!!
